About apprenticeships
Australian Apprenticeships are the best way to combine training and employment and lead to a nationally recognized qualification. The nominal apprenticeship training term is three years. The nominal traineeship training term is one year.
Apprenticeships and traineeships are jobs that combine paid work and structured training.

As a Skill Hire apprentice we will provide help, guidance and support throughout your apprenticeship or traineeship, find suitable hosts for you to work with and learn from, organise your training and take care of many of the paperwork requirements for your apprenticeship/traineeship.

Michael Smith Carpentry Services
Michael
Smith commenced his apprenticeship training with Skill Hire in August 2003. His ambition
at this time was to become a successful trade’s person and business man in his
own right.
His dedication to his apprenticeship lead to Skill Hire’s best 3rd Year Apprentice award in September 2005; resulting in a nominaltion for the prestigious Master Builders Association Apprentice of the year award.
Michael went on to win MBA Apprentice of the Year Award and became a Skill Hire Host Employer (Trainer) after becoming interested in building his own sub contracting business. His new apprentice went on to win Skill Hire’s best 2nd Year Apprentice award for Carpentry and Joinery.
Within 12 months of setting up his business, he was again nominated by Skill Hire for the prestigious Rick New Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for excellenceand then went on to win the Rick New Medal of Excellence at a Master Builders Association Presentation in September 2006.
Skill Hire’s contribution in mentoring, supporting and delivering Michaels’ off-the-job training over the course of his apprenticeship has been a very rewarding and gratifying experience for all concerned. His story is just one of many that Skill Hire employees can achieve during their time as an apprentice with our company.
