Group Training for Business
How it works
Group Training is an arrangement where apprentices and trainees are employed under a training contract by an organization, which manages the quality of their training and provides pastoral care while they are placed with Hosts. Skill Hire Group Training Scheme recruits apprentices/trainees from school leavers, pre-vocational students and job seekers. Applicants undergo an assessment to ensure they have the commitment and aptitude to do the job applied for. Successful Skill Hire applicants are employed by Skill Hire and registered as apprentices/trainees with ApprentiCentre.
Skill Hire identifies a Host to train an apprentice/trainee. When placed with a Host Trainer, apprentices/trainees will respond directly to the supervision and instruction of their Host. The placement period is negotiated between the parties. In some cases, apprentices/trainees may stay with the Host for the full period of training; in others, they may be rotated to another Host Trainer for further skills.
The Host Trainer receives an invoice each week, recovering some employment costs associated with the employment of an apprentice or trainee as shown below.

TAFE Training
Skill Hire takes care of all the paperwork to do with apprentice registration, off-the-job training at College, etc.
Simple Contracts
Skill Hire operates on the Hassle Free principle. The aim is to keep the paperwork for Host Employers to a minimum. The hiring of apprentices is undertaken by a way of basic contract agreement between Host Trainers and Skill Hire.
Skill Hire will visit apprentices and trainees regularly on site by Skill Hire Field Officers, whose job is to monitor their performance and ensure that the employers are satisfied.
Apprentices and trainees are provided with a weekly timesheet book. Apprentices complete their time sheets at the end of each week; Host Trainers must sign to verify. They are then emailed, faxed or mailed to the Skill Hire office and Host Trainers are sent an account weekly. Host Employers can pay by either direct debit, cheque or cash.
