Shaping the Future Generations

Whether you’re currently in school, undertaking an apprenticeship or finishing your university degree, you could be the future leaders, teachers and influencers of the next generation. It’s all down to the opportunities you take!

But what happens when there’s limited opportunities?

The harsh reality is that many individuals come out of uni with a $40,000 debt and no hope of finding a job related to their chosen profession.

A study found that students reported waiting between 4 months to 7 years before they found a permanent position, with many ending up settling for casual, low paying jobs.

In one state, it was reported that as many as 46 university graduates were competing for each graduate job vacancy! In 25 years, this is the tightest applicant market that we have had.

What are we doing about it?

It’s not something that can be reduced overnight, but here at Skill Hire, we’re all about creating opportunities! Starting as a training provider in 1992, we have since grown into one of WA’s largest providers of apprentices to the construction industry.

Our vision is to help individuals from commencement through to completion – whether that’s training, staffing or employment – we want to guide them every step of the way!

Not only do we promote this through our services, we also actively create internal opportunities for budding graduates and trainees. We understand how difficult it is for recent graduates to find full time employment so we employ them ourselves!

Currently, Skill Hire has 14 graduates and trainees working across various Skill Hire offices in Australia. From Admin to Recruitment, we have them all! We want to ensure that our graduates and trainees are able to gain insightful experience in their chosen profession, and that’s what we’ve done!

Let’s introduce the graduates and trainees, shall we?

  • Administration – Inca Lyon (trainee), Philip Heiden (trainee) & Sarah West (trainee)
  • Business – Jacinta Percival (trainee)
  • Finance – Joyce Trazona (graduate) & Tiphanie Aeschliman (graduate)
  • Human Resources (HR) – Claire Simms (graduate) & Thao Le Ho (graduate)
  • Marketing – Matthew Moro (graduate) & Zoe Wong (graduate)
  • Payroll – Chenay Marshall (undergraduate)
  • Reception – Deseree Riley (trainee), Imogen Evans (trainee)
  • Recruitment – Jodie Graves (trainee)

Taking on graduates and trainees, not only helps reduce graduate unemployment, it is also the perfect opportunity for these individuals to apply the knowledge they’ve learnt into a fully functioning company. And just like when our apprentices turn into employers, it’s a pleasure to be a part of their journey!

Skill Hire really helped me to see that I can accomplish something if I set my mind to it and I completed my course 2 months prior to the completion date. Cheers guys!

I just wanted to thank Skill Hire's EST Trainers. Nathan is the absolute best trainer I’ve ever had privilege to meet by a WIDE margin and I appreciate everything done for all of us. I’m ecstatic about the internship opportunity.

Not only did Skill Hire respond quickly to our urgent need, your team took the time to understand our organization and our needs. The people sent to help out were outstanding and their ability to rapidly adapt to our workplace eased our burden during what was a very challenging few months.

My son has thoroughly enjoyed the Construction Pathways course. He spent the last 18 months being home schooled and not socializing with anyone so to see him eager to get up and leave the house every day still blows my mind. Simon, thank you for your understanding and taking extra care with my son.

I wanted to say a big thank you to Skill Hire and the team, especially Wayne for such an amazing experience for our students. All of our students were thoroughly engaged with the course and learned many valuable skills.
