Program structure

Students complete Units of Competency in subjects such as Occupational Health and Safety, measurements and calculations, handling construction materials, basic hand skills and reading and interpreting plans. Emphasis is placed on practical aspects of building and construction which provides students with the opportunity to participate in basic construction projects. Practical assessments, hands-on experience and trainer support is provided at Forrestfield and Joondalup facilities. Skill Hire’s student handbook which outlines Skill Hire’s policies and procedures can be found at: www.skillhire.com.au/skill-development/student-information. Program duration

The Construction Pathways Program has a rolling in take all year, both at our Forrestfield and Joondalup training facilities. Mode of delivery Mixed mode delivery - Online theoretical through face to face virtual classrooms to complete theoretical work. Virtual classrooms are scheduled each week- students will receive weekly updates with their schedules. All practical components required to complete the training will be delivered in adequate training facilities located in Forrestfield and Joondalup. Which will be scheduled as block training.

Student Resource

To participate in the CPC20211 Certificate II in Construction Pathways students must wear in the training facility Steel cap boots Appropriate work shirts (long or short sleeved) and pants/shorts Students are to supply the above and must also remember to bring a notebook and pen to training.

Program commitment

To be awarded the CPC20211 Certificate II in Construction Pathways, students should attend all training days and must successfully complete all units of competency. Poor attendance may result in being withdrawn from the course.

Program requirements1

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY:
Students must be classified as either an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident. For students of school age 15 and above, that are not engaged with a school. All students will undertake an assessment or interview to ensure that they are a suitable candidate to participate in the course, this will include a review of student needs and LLN skills.
