Construction Training Fund
Skill Hire are fully funded through the Construction Training Fund (CTF) to deliver Try-A-Trade programs to school students from years 9 and 10. All programs are hands on and provide students with an insight and taster in the industry.

  • Basic understanding of OHS standards and site signage
  • Gain basic hand and technical skills
  • Take part in practical projects
  • Workplace behaviour, verbal communication and workplace expectations
  • Hazard identification and risk assessment
  • Planning, prioritising and organising work tasks

Who can attend:

Programs are open to students from years 9 and 10 and are ideal for students that have expressed an interest in a trade based career but are unsure if this is a career they wish to pursue. We require a minimum of 12 students and a maximum of 16 students per group.

Semester two is open to years 9 and 10 with a 50/50 ratio.

How to book:

  • Thank you for allowing Greg Knobloch the time to present to our VET Induction Day.....The information contained in his OHS presentation was highly engaging and of utmost importance in preparing students for their upcoming work placements. We very much appreciate his time, expertise and experience in this area...

  • A HUGE thank you for organising the Try-A-Trade for our students. All three teachers have come back to school absolutely buzzing about what the boys achieved in those three days and what a fantastic program it is. They also said the trainer was amazing and worked so well with the boys. It has taken me two years to get just one of these off the ground and am hoping this may be something we can try every year.

Thank you so much and can you please pass on my thanks to the Trainer.

  • Working with Skill Hire was an absolute joy! Our students enjoyed an unsurpassed opportunity to learn and develop skills that supported their career aspirations. Trainer, Wayne Sutherland managed a full team of 15 students with ease and aplomb! The opportunity to engage with on-site works meant that our students have now had a real experience of these trades and feel more confident in their ability to succeed. A few students are keen to continue their trade studies with Skillhire and we wish them all the very best. Thankyou so much for the opportunity to take part in Try-A-Trade and SOP
