Skill Development Programs
A strong career needs strong foundations. Our Skill Development Programs are designed to give you just that.
Here at Skill Hire, we understand how important the start of your career is. That’s why we work hard to provide Skill Development programs for young people deciding where they want their career to go.
Our various Skill Development Programs are designed for youth of all ages, starting from early high school with our Try-A-Trade programs, after which young people may then be eligible to progress into a Pathway program, Scholarship Program, Pre-Apprenticeship or finally, group training throughout their apprenticeships.
If you know someone who needs help starting their career or building their skills, contact our training department today to discuss a suitable Skill Development Program.
Choosing the Right Skill Development Program
Whether you are still in High School or figuring your way through early adulthood, we have various Skill Development Programs to suit you:
Providing an insight into the construction industry, the Try-A-Trade program gives participants the opportunity to sample life on a construction site while still at school. Participants will gain experience in two different trade areas (carpentry & bricklaying).
For youth no longer in school and seeking direction, Pathways Programs provides opportunity to learn basic hand and technical skills. This 12 week program covers everything from occupational health and safety to understanding how to read construction plans.
For students who are still in school and may be interested in an apprenticeship once they finish, the in-school scholarship offers the opportunity to undertake a one day per week scholarship program throughout their final two years of High School.
For youth who are not interested in staying in school, on-site pre-apprenticeships will provide the necessary preparation to undertake a full apprenticeship later on. Interested course participants will undertake their pre-apprenticeship at Skill Hire’s purpose-built facilities.
Group Training: For building and construction apprentices, complete your group training units with us!
If building and construction is your calling, we can help your apprenticeship by providing group training and placing you with a Host Employer who will enrich your apprenticeship with real work experience.
Skill Hire really helped me to see that I can accomplish something if I set my mind to it and I completed my course 2 months prior to the completion date. Cheers guys!
Skill Hire are helpful and professional. Nicola was attentive to all my needs. Their timesheets systems were a breeze and always update us with messages. Thanks Skill Hire
I just wanted to thank Skill Hire's EST Trainers. Nathan is the absolute best trainer I’ve ever had privilege to meet by a WIDE margin and I appreciate everything done for all of us. I’m ecstatic about the internship opportunity.
Not only did Skill Hire respond quickly to our urgent need, your team took the time to understand our organization and our needs. The people sent to help out were outstanding and their ability to rapidly adapt to our workplace eased our burden during what was a very challenging few months.
My son has thoroughly enjoyed the Construction Pathways course. He spent the last 18 months being home schooled and not socializing with anyone so to see him eager to get up and leave the house every day still blows my mind. Simon, thank you for your understanding and taking extra care with my son.
I wanted to say a big thank you to Skill Hire and the team, especially Wayne for such an amazing experience for our students. All of our students were thoroughly engaged with the course and learned many valuable skills.
